A wonderful tradition in the Catholic Church is the blessing of graves.
As the Catechism of the Catholic Church – 962 – states “We believe in the communion of all the faithful of Christ, those who are pilgrims on earth, the dead who are being purified, and the blessed in heaven, all together forming one church; and we believe in this communion, the merciful love of God and his saints is always [attentive] to our prayers”
Catholics gathered at Luton General Cemetery in Rothesay Road on Sunday 2nd July 2023 for the blessing of graves and then took Holy Water to the graves of their loved ones.
The service was presided over by Fr Eustace (St Margaret of Scotland), supported by Fr Ugo ((St Margaret of Scotland) and Deacon Jim (Holy Family)
Graves were also blessed at the Luton Church Cemetery in Crawley Green Road and the Vale Cemetery in Stopsley, as they are every year.
